This super-rare island made LP features Trinidad's 19 year-old Hubert Smith, Jr. as a rising star soon to be equaling the popularity of his famous father. Having played a command performance for Her Royal Highness, Princess Margaret and The Wanderers Quartet, together with the band, make this a unique item or any collection. Selections are": Angeliqueo; Arrivederci Roma; Country Boy; Haiti Cheri; Elbow Beach Merengue; Melody D'Amour; Yellow Bird; Blue Star; Coconut Woman; A Woman In Love; Cordelia Brown; and Dove Tale. Recorded at The Opera House in Bermuda. Recorded by Alfred Muat, and Produced by Terry Brannon. Lots of beats to sample on this Original 1959 pressing on BERMUDA BANDSTAND RECORDS, made in Bermuda. This is an original pressing, with no record number, but the title was eventually assigned #4248 in later pressings. The matrix number is XTV 28979. The back cover depicts a mock-up postcard, so you can mail the LP to yourself or a friend. This one has no writing on it, and the jacket appears overall near Mint. This is the DEBUT LP by the Esso Steel Band, and a must-have for all steel band collectors. The playing surfaces appear bright, clean and overall beautiful near MINT!
