The Los Angeles based group Redbone are led by Native Americans Pat and Lolly Vegas, who had previously worked under their own names, and appeared at The Haunted House Club in the 1965 film It's A Bikini World. Their first success as Redbone came in 1970 with the album opener, "Maggie", a perfect example of their distinctive funky & highly rhythmic sound. Other selections are: Light As A Feather; Who Can Say?; Judgment Day; Without Reservation; Alcatraz (a touching ballad with a seldom-heard Indian perspective); Drinkin' And Blo; Bad News Ain't No News At All; New Blue Sermonette; and Chant: 13th Hour - A 5:36 track that segues from tribal chanting to Redbone-style funk, & predates Robbie Robertson's (The Band) similar experiments. With Tony Bellamy & Peter de Poe, who later backed Brenda Patterson. Produced by Pete Welding. This is an Original 1970 pressing on EPIC RECORDS (30109), with the yellow labels. The record jacket shows some color rubbing while the record labels appear bright & clean. The playing surfaces show appear in overall Very Good condition!
