THE WILD ONES - The Arthur Sound
Recorded 'Live' At Arthur

The Wild Ones are: CHUCK ALDEN; JORDAN CHRISTOPHER; TOM GRAVES;TOMMY TRICK; and EDDIE WRIGHT. Sometimes described as garage, this mop-topped slick-haired dark-suited outfit present an album of "big-beat" sounds; an assortment of these polished ballads, pop/Motown and dance/soul numbers: It's Not Unusual, (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin', Dancing In The Streets, What's New Pussycat, My Little Red Book, I Can't Help Myself, My Girl, Wild Way Of Living, Foolish Pride, People Sure Act Funny, Around The Corner. They do a solid version of the 'Stones Satisfaction and a brooding cover of the Highwaymen's folk-rock popper My Foolish Pride (written and demo'd by the D-Men/Fifth Estate team). Keyboardist Tom Graves went on to Five Dollar Shoes, Bullseye, and the Electra Five, who all had major record deals. Guitarist Chuck Alden later formed the Fuzzy Bunnies, a quartet who were also house band at New York's famous Arthur Club between 1967-1968 and who had at least three releases. Mod hairdresser Jordan Christopher & Sybil Burton (the former wife of film star Richard Burton) were married at the time. She is pictured on the cover, as well has having written the liner notes. Jordan went on to acting in feature films (The Fat Spy; Return Of The Magnificent Seven, and others). Cover photos are by the infamous RICHARD AVEDON. Sales of the album were discontinued when someone discovered that it was not really recorded live at Arthur, but actually in a studio, with maybe 50 people standing around drinking & chatting to create the illusion of a live audience. I'm not sure who would have cared about this distinction, but the record company pulled the album. This is that short-lived original 1966 Stereo pressing on United Artists (UAL-3450). Right now I have two original copies available: One of them is STILL SEALED, but there is a sticker tear to the front cover where some of the shrinkwrap is missing. The other copy appears on overall beautiful Excellent condition!
